Lhicarsa agrees to have equal treatment with its workers (25/09/2017)

The concessionaire of the cleaning and garbage service of the City Council of Cartagena, Lhicarsa, signed Monday the first Equality Plan that promises to have equal treatment among its workers, which is raised to five years (between 2017 and 2021).

The act in which the rubric has materialized was attended by Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, Lhicarsa's Chairman of the Board, José López, FCC's Human Resources Director, Luis Suárez, along with directors and union representatives of the company.

Martinez thanked the company that has counted with its council for the elaboration of this plan, something that considers "essential for effective equality" between women and men and recalled that this type of regulations are mandatory for companies that have more than 250 employees and employees since it is included in the Organic Law for Effective Equality between Men and Women of March 2007.

In this regard, the mayor of Equality has lamented that at this time "not all companies have it" and has advocated further progress in this area to "have both sexes have the same opportunities" in the workplace.

"From the Department we are going to work in that sense," said David Martinez, who has also advanced that the Equality Council is already developing the second Equality Plan of the City of Cartagena and the first plan against Gender Violence, "and in both will appear the collaboration with the women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs, unions and workers, fomenting between all and all that real equality" that the society has "to reach".

"Companies should be able to address the changes that are necessary to ensure equality in access to employment, promotion, training, pay, eliminating the still existing wage gap, facilitating work and family reconciliation, and preventing sexual harassment, among many other issues that nowadays make it possible to differentiate on the basis of sex, "said the councilor, who also expressed his" great satisfaction "for this firm that he hopes to be" an example that can follow many other companies in Cartagena. "

He also praised the "many positive actions contemplated in this plan" and encouraged the rest of companies "to work in this direction" and made public the support of the municipal government team, "waiting for that is of immediate and real application, and that it is 100% carried into practice. "

FCC Human Resources Director Luis Suárez thanked the City Council for its support for the signing of this Equality Plan, as well as its involvement and contribution to the legal representation of workers and trade unions with a presence on the committee (UGT and CCOO) with its highest representation in the Autonomous Community.

Suárez recalled that the company Lhicarsa was already welcomed by the FCC equality plans.

"We wanted to take a step closer to the local level in a way that would really empower the legal representation of the workers of the company Lhicarsa, within the effort of social dialogue and permanent dialogue established by the FCC group, and so that the plans, the measures and programs contained in the plan really fit the reality and the pulse of the local, "he said, in a municipality" so important "for the group he represents" as is Cartagena and one of the main companies in the region such as Lhicarsa. "

FCC's director of Human Resources has expressed his hope that "from now on, the measures" included in this plan, which he understands, "should not be" only "in good intentions".
