MC will request a collaboration agreement between Port Authority and City Council to fix the municipal contribution to the improvement of the port environment (23/09/2017)

The Cartagenerista formation will present, in the next plenary, a proposal to end the dispersion and inconcretion of the current agreements on infrastructures

MC will present at the next Municipal Plenary, which will be held on Thursday, September 28, a motion to require the Port Authority to, as soon as possible, agree with the City Council on a collaboration agreement in which its contribution to improvement of the port environment and the safety of its activity and area.

With this proposal, which will be defended by the spokesman of MC, José López, aims to end the dispersion and lack of the current agreements on infrastructure and the lack of an agreement on security, establishing an integrated monitoring committee by technicians from the areas of Sustainable Development and Citizen Security, "all for the benefit of society and in fair correspondence for the risk that we support the Cartagena for port management is positive," said López.

Constant interaction between the Port Authority and the City Council

The interaction between the Port Authority and the City of Cartagena "is constant," said MC spokesman.

In this sense, he remarked that "port activity and the integration of the port with the city are the two axes of this relationship."

In order to articulate this relationship, agreements and other documents of diverse nature have historically been signed, which have created a diffuse framework of collaboration.

To the

José López has detailed that "we refer to agreements for the remodeling of the dock and projects for the integration of the port and the city subscribed in 1990, for the remodeling of accesses of the slope of the Batel in 1994, for the authorization, adequacy

and use of the Christmas dyke;

or the agreement for the prevention and extinction of fires in the service area signed in June 2010 ".

In general, with the mentioned agreements, the Port Authority has delivered land, works and materials, while the City has provided maintenance and conservation services.

Risk for the inhabitants of Cartagena

Similarly, López recalled that "the inhabitants of Cartagena bear the risk of supplying two refineries, which makes the operating account is more than satisfactory, without these benefits in the municipality."

Thus, the council has highlighted the "multiple efforts" made throughout this term with the aim of achieving a framework agreement that includes the obligations of each of the parties in the port environment, its renewal and maintenance , as well as an agreement for the prevention and extinction of fires.

"It is not a question of being alarmists here," José López explained, "but we must be realistic, and the risk of the port and its bulk is added to the situation of jihadist alert, without the Port Authority has given way to the front cover that need ".

Faithful collaboration between administrations

The spokesman of MC has called for "a loyal collaboration between administrations and, in this case, between the Port of Cartagena and its City Council, having to improve in order to optimize the relationship and interaction of the port environment with the city and to guarantee security in times in that this is more necessary than ever. "

Finally, López has pointed out that it should be the municipal technicians who evaluate the works and facilities before assuming their maintenance, since for example, there are actions such as the new esplanade on which there are now doubts and even have not been made therein acts of the feasts of Carthaginians and Romans despite having been requested.
