VII Seafaring Day in the fishing village of El Portus (17/08/2017)

As it has been customary in the fishing village of El Portús, with August comes the traditional Marinera Day (Portusium Jábega), in which the City of Cartagena collaborates.

The coastal town, over time, has been - and continues to be - a fishing village, of which even today there are descendants among its inhabitants.

This act commemorates the origins of this town simulating the cove and collection of the seine, traditional fishing art on the Levantine coast.

This representation, which has already become an emblematic act of this fishing village, will be held next Saturday 19 August at 20:30 hours on the beach of El Portús.

Dressed in clothing used to fish in 1900, the cove will be made and collected from the seine, name with which is known the traditional art of Levantine fishing as well as the boat used to fish.

Using the traditional means of that time, the nets will stop, then, from the beach, strand a vintage boat, with a vertical lathe dating from 1940. The creek of the seine will be made in open cup, ie without death for fish.

After the cove of the seine, you can enjoy the music of a DJ in the square.
