The City Council presents the restoration of the Mill of Los Mateos to the call of the cultural 1.5 percent of the Ministry of Development. The project for 239 thousand euros and that would be executed in three months stands out according to the mayo (16/08/2017)

The Local Government Board, meeting with extraordinary character, under the chairmanship of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved this morning to request a grant for the restoration of the so-called Molino de la Piedra, in Los Mateos, 5 percent of the Ministry of Development.

As explained by Ana Belén Castejón in the appearance after the meeting, this is a project for the amount of 239 thousand euros of which the City has committed to finance 25 percent, namely 59,757 euros,

Running the rest in charge of 1.5 percent cultural.

Its execution period is three months and it has the support of the Directorate General of Cultural Property.

The mayor has called attention to the importance of this project that is adapted to the characteristics of the call;

Since the recovery of a heritage element as important as this windmill, municipal property, joins the social character and economic development that will have, as it will mean the recovery of an environment such as the neighborhood of Los Mateos,

The realization of new archaeological excavations and the valorization of the Roman Forum;

The recovery projects of the two municipal-owned windmills, Este de la Piedra in Los Mateos, and another in La Asomada;

The imposition to the declaration of new goods of cultural interest or the celebrations of the years of the Modernism and the Enlightenment.

The Heritage coordinator, Maricarmen Berrocal, has indicated that serious work has been done.

The project contemplates the restoration of the tower and the deck of the Mill, as well as external spaces of approximately 250 square meters that will be adapted for social use by the collectives of the neighborhood, leaving for a later stage the recovery of the blades and The candles through a carpentry training workshop.

Berrocal has also meant the patrimonial importance of the windmills of Latin sail, of marine technique, and that extend by the Mediterranean from Crete to Cadiz and for which it is being asked from the Government of the Nation the declaration of patrimony of the Unesco.
