The mayor obtains an agreement between the Ministry of Education and the parents on the school of El Llano. Both the City Council of Cartagena and the regional government have undertaken to start, immediately, a series of works to guarantee the safet (10/08/2017)

The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Education, David Martínez Noguera, have this afternoon promoted a meeting with the Minister of Education, Adela Martínez-Cachá, the AMPA of the school San Ginés de la Jara and neighborhood groups of El Llano del Beal, to try to find a consensual solution to the social alarm generated with respect to the center.

Both the Consistory of Cartagena and the Ministry of Education are pending the results of studies that determine the danger or not of the land on which the school in El Llano is built.

During the meeting, neighbors and members of the educational community have been asked about the immediate measures that, on the part of the City of Cartagena and the regional government, will be taken so that next September 7 the students begin the school year in a way Normal and with the maximum guarantees.

The mayor said that from the City Council has sought with this meeting that "both the educational community and mothers and fathers perceived what they have been working the technicians of the council and the counseling, and to give a message of calm, showing them the sheet Route, the result of a coordinated work that contemplates mainly corrective measures. "

The works planned for the Ministry include covering the gaps of the center wall to avoid water runoff, the possible paving of the football field in the yard and the sealing of the doors and windows of the building.

For its part, and despite exceeding its powers, the City Council will be responsible for paving the Children's playground, placing a so-called "dust screen" on the sports court, which consists of extending a layer of agricultural textile on the Pavement, redirect rainwater from the street, weekly flushing of the paved areas of the center and intensify the cleaning of classrooms, until the conclusions of the pending technical studies of City Hall and General Directorate for the Environment are obtained.

In case all these works have finished by that date and the result of the report of the Autonomous Community gives green light, the students of CEIP San Ginés will be able to return to occupy their classrooms as in previous courses.

On the other hand, if the works are not finished or the conclusions of the studies discourage them, the children will be transferred to other centers in the vicinity, with the same conditions of transport and dining room that they had in this school, until the corrective measures that Both studies are completed.

AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

The mayor has also informed that at the end of August will meet with the President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, who wants to transfer what he has heard from the neighbors, "which is the big problem there In this council, which is transversal to the entire regional government.
