The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, visited Wednesday the hundred children and the 25 monitors of the Urban Camp organized by the Fundacion Iniciaria Solidaria Ángel Tomás (FISAT) with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena in the facilities of the Salesian College 'San Juan Bosco ', and that this year arrives to its third edition.

The recipients of this project are children and pre-adolescents between the ages of 6 and 13 years old, coming from families with whom Social Services and other entities collaborate.

The activity starts every day at 10:00 in the morning and ends at 20:00.

The kids participate in different activities, which this year have the theme of superheroes, who seek to promote positive values ​​such as justice, generosity or self-control.

In addition, throughout the day they eat breakfast, lunch, eat and snack at the same facilities.

An initiative that wants to respond to the concern and concern to offer children and youth at risk or situation of social exclusion an educational alternative to free time in the month of August, when the number of educational offers decreases considerably.

The Urban Camp began its activity yesterday, August 1, and will end on August 7.

Seven very intense days in which there will be 2 excursions: to the municipal swimming pool and Aquanatura;

And there will even be activities in which families will participate

In this edition, the City Council, in addition to collaborating in the coordination and referral of recipients, sponsors the project by paying the cost of the daily coach service that picks up boys from various parts of the city.

One of the important points of the project is the creation of a small school of social volunteers, with the participation of young volunteers, who dedicate part of their summer time and learn to live with children with situations of special need.

The number of volunteers who collaborate with the project, among monitors, educators and people who collaborate in the development of the activities of the camp exceeds 30 people.

In this initiative, in addition to FISAT and the Department of Social Services, Caritas, Salesians and Hospitality Santa Teresa.
