Cartagena and the Young Symphony Orchestra will collaborate in the promotion of cultural activities in the municipality (27/06/2017)

The Councilor for Youth of Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, and the president of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena (JOSCT), Álvaro Valdesueiro, signed today the agreement of collaboration for the promotion of cultural, artistic and recreational activities In the municipality, through which the Consistory will contribute an annual subsidy of 10,000 euros to the training.

Thus, the mayor has explained that the departure that the Department of Youth releases for the JOSCT aims "to develop their activities."

The agreement, which is valid during 2017, includes the commitment made by JOSCT to perform five concerts throughout the year, four as a full symphony orchestra and one as a chamber orchestra and includes the commissioning of a test venue for The orchestra, which will be located in the Quarters Youth Center.

The first of them will take place next Saturday, July 22, at 8:00 p.m., in the Auditorium and Congress Hall El Batel, in an event that will also serve to commemorate the first anniversary of JOSCT.

According to Valdesueiro, the rest of the proceedings are still to be defined.

The proposal was approved last May 19 in Government Board and emerges, as stressed by the mayor, "the commitment of the City Council to contribute to the development and improvement of the quality of life of the population of the municipality, facilitating access to everything Type of cultural manifestations to the maximum possible number of cartageneros ".

Also, after signing the agreement, Segado has expressed his satisfaction with the rubric of this agreement "which materializes a collaboration that we understand will be very fruitful for and for the benefit of Cartagena's culture."

THE CARM HELP

Segado has also indicated that both the City Council and JOSCT continue to wait for the help promised by CARM to collaborate with the Young Orchestra.

In this regard, Alvaro Valdesueiro has pointed out that a regional subsidy of about 15,000 euros was discussed with the regional government so that the orchestra has its own percussion, "although for the time being that issue has not advanced much."

On the other hand, the president of the JOSCT has expressed his gratitude to the City of Cartagena, and specifically to the Department of Youth for the support received the musical training from the first day.

Valdesueiro has detailed that the 10,000 euros of the subsidy will be intended, mainly, to pay the lodging and the diets to the musicians who can come from outside, rent of instruments that are necessary for each of the performances or rental of works.

MUNICIPAL SUPPORT FOR JOSCT

The municipal government has shown its support for JOSCT since its founding in July 2016. In this way, Ricardo Segado has been interested in all those activities that have been organized since, such as the inaugural concert held on July 17 at the Paraninfo Of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT);
