The Association of Friends of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena (MVSAEDOMVS), in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, presented on Friday the piece of the quarter, "Horn of plenty" or "Cornucopia."

It is a rich piece of white marble that, with 66.86 cm of height, belonged to a statue of a size superior to the natural one.

This piece was next to one of the columns of the northern portico of the peristyle of the baths of the port in the Archaeological Park of the Windmill so that the statue to which it belonged had to decorate the thermal complex.

The event was open not only to members but also to the general public who was able to hear first-hand the explanations of María José Madrid Balanza, co-director of the archaeological excavations at Cerro del Molinete, who gave the historical and archaeological information of the Mentioned piece as well as details of the excavation and restoration of that piece.

All a luxury of explanations that the audience thanked enormously.

After this act of presentation and with the collaboration of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, all the attendees enjoyed a magnificent classic guitar concert by two outstanding students of this conservatory: Mª Teresa Sánchez Gómez, winner in the 12th, 13th and 14th of the "Between Strings and Metals" Regional Competition in Cartagena and the "Ángel Iglesias" International Competition in Cáceres, as well as Antonio Molina García, winner of this year's competition "Entre Cuerdas y Metales".

This activity responds to one of the main objectives of MUSAEDOMUS as it is to divulge the great cultural wealth that owns our Municipal Archaeological Museum.

In order to fulfill this objective, the Association has been conducting the quarterly presentation of a prominent piece of the museum since the month of March, 2015, when it began its journey.

MVSAEDOMVS is a non-profit cultural association born of the restlessness and enthusiasm of a group of people for the culture and history of our city reflected in the said Archaeological Museum.

Among the activities that are already preparing for the beginning of the next course is the '2nd photography contest Antonio Acosta' as well as a cultural and tourist visit to another population of the Region that gives continuity to the one that last year was made to Lorca.
