An explosion of color and joy, inspired by Einstein's quote 'Creativity is the intelligence amusing, has flooded the courtyard of the administrative building San Miguel.

Students of the School of Architecture and Construction of the Polytechnic University (UPCT) have mounted an impressive exhibition with the models, sheets and documents of various subjects in which they rethink Cartagena with proposals such as reforming the bus station, creating an arts center Scenic, remodel the building of the LVEF and access to Los Mateos.

"The School wants and can contribute to building the city, to be complicit in this process that never ends with a critical and purposeful spirit and the energy of the students," explained Professor Patricia Reus during the inauguration, which Attended by the rector, the mayor, the dean of the Association of Architects of the Region and renowned professionals such as José Manuel Chacón and Martín Lejarraga.

The exhibition, designed and manufactured by the students themselves, shows a selection of works by students of the UPCT's Technical School of Architecture and Construction, whose focus has been on the city of Cartagena.

The examples that are collected belong to three subjects that are taught in the degree of Architecture (Projects 7, Management of Professional Processes and Spatial Planning) and to a subject of the Master of Heritage (Heritage Documentation).

The design of the exhibition responds to an exercise raised in the form of a competition between students of 4th year, in which students have offered a proposal for exhibition.

The winning project team has been in charge of directing the production of the exhibition, distributing tasks among the rest of its companions and coordinating the assembly.

In total, more than two hundred people have collaborated in the assembly of the exhibition, which will be maintained during the summer.

Inverted docks

Among the architectural projects exposed, the Galician Silvia de Paz and the Malagueña Julia Diaz have designed a greenway that runs the arc East of the city, from Mandarache to Santa Lucia, connect to the existing bike lanes and arrive at the station Of buses, in which they propose accesses at the foot of the street and a rearrangement of the docks to create a central waiting space from which all the vehicles can be seen.

"We are regular users of the bus and we are always worried that it will leave without seeing it", explain the students of the UPCT.

In the rest of the station building, which the mayor has agreed to describe as "underutilized and with an improved environment", the students propose the installation of test areas and representation of schools of performing arts.

The rector and the mayor also have known the project of road education raised by students of the course Management of Professional Processes and the recovery of the altarpiece of the Chapel of Christ of Socorro of the Old Cathedral that Italian students of the Master of Architectural Heritage suggest to carry out Through multimedia technologies to include in the visit to the Roman Theater.
