Cartagena celebrates Innovation Day with a full day of art and science for schoolchildren (30/05/2017)

This Thursday, June 1, marks the anniversary of the birth of one of the great inventors of history, the cartagenero Isaac Peral;

For this reason, the Autonomous Community is celebrated on Innovation Day, and Cartagena has organized a series of activities to bring science and technology closer to the young and will open the exhibition 'Isaac Peral, The dream of innovation '.

Thus, under the theme 'Innova e Aprende', with the collaboration of the European Business and Innovation Center of Cartagena (CEEIC) in various activities that will take place on the morning of Thursday, a total of 200 students from different schools Of the municipality, such as the Narval School, IES Las Salinas del Mar Menor, IES Isaac Peral and Franciscan School.

The students will be divided into four groups to complete the programmed activities, which will be developed in different scenarios.

In this way, the day will begin at 10.00 hours with the opening of the program by the mayor of Cartagena, José López.

After that, at 10.15 hours, the activities will start and the inauguration of the exhibition 'Isaac Peral, the dream of innovation' will take place in the Víctor Beltrí exhibition hall of the Consistorial Palace. First time, unpublished material on the inventor, property of the private collection of Diego Quevedo.

The exhibition, which will remain open to the public until June 30, is organized by the City of Cartagena through the Culture and Heritage Area and framed within the commemorative events of the Year of the Enlightenment.

On the other hand, the young people will be able to enjoy four different activities throughout the day, which will include a visit to the Peral Room of the Naval Museum in which they will participate in the workshop 'An invention of Inventions'.

During the workshop, participating students will learn about the main aspects of the submersible, the history of its invention and the resolution of problems faced by Peral during the development of the submarine.

In addition, in the Town Hall Square, the activity 'El Peralito' has been programmed, an exhibition of a model of the submersible made to scale by students of the Middle Degree Training Course and Welding and Boilerwork of the IES Polytechnic;

While in the hall of ceremonies of the Consistorial Palace, the professor and scientific disseminator Cayetano Gutiérrez Pérez will be in charge of transmitting to the guests various daily situations loaded with physics and chemistry.
