The guidelines for this new year have a "much more practical direction than the previous year," said López, who stressed that the work done in the chair is perhaps the most colorful result of the collaboration agreement between the two Institutions signed in 2015 "which has led to coordinated work to improve us and to improve our environment."

"The UPCT is the main actor of the present in our Region and the tool that traces the future from Cartagena to the rest of the world.

We are convinced that the talent that it hosts deserves this projection, so the area of Sustainable Development that I manage has bet for the second consecutive year to be part of the successful and exemplary network of chairs of our University, "said the mayor.

For his part, the rector of the UPCT has thanked the confidence shown by the City Council to renew this chair that works in a dynamic way in response to the needs of the municipality, and with which it is sought, through collaboration between technicians, teachers and Students of the university, "to continue creating city".

The signature of renewal of the chair will take place in next dates, when also will be detailed the investigators who will direct each one of them.

In addition the mayor wanted to announce the next assignment of the Antigones barracks building, built in the eighteenth century and municipal title, to the UPCT for an indefinite period while engaged in teaching.

The coordinator of the team of municipal technicians, Manuel Nicolás, has detailed some of the needs to which the new lines of work are oriented.

Specifically, he explained that the composting line of urban solid waste seeks to give a use as a compost to the waste generated by pruning and the arrivals of beaches that are removed in summer after having done their function to protect the sand of the coast Of the storms of winter and spring.

As for the telelecture system, it is necessary to replace the obsolete system of manual reading, and to create a proprietary and proprietary system of telemetry reading, since the hiring of this system through a private company involves the payment of a franchise that is normally Very expensive.

The patent of an own system would save much money to the municipal coffers, and could even be used by other municipalities.

In terms of mobility, it seeks to put the pedestrian as the main actor of the same.

Through digital means, traffic and movement of pedestrians are to be studied, so that, based on these data, a better mobility infrastructure that is not arbitrary will be implanted in the future, but instead will be solidly based.

Regarding mobility, the mayor recalled that already has been working from the Department of Sustainable Mobility in this regard, and that next Wednesday 31 will be presented a battery of measures to improve the municipality in this matter.
