The mayor congratulates the workers and volunteers for their work at the Museum Night 2017 (25/05/2017)

The mayor of Cartagena, José López, visited the facilities of the Youth Council accompanied by the mayor responsible for the area, Ricardo Segado, and the director of Leisure and Participation Programs of this council, María del Mar Sánchez.

There he has visited the different departments and he has known firsthand the work done by the municipal employees, with whom he has spoken.

The visit was motivated by the successful participation of the Museum Night, which was held on Saturday, May 20, and has produced a total of 56,000 visitors in the different museum spaces of the port city;

A volume that would not have been possible to manage without having had the collaboration and commitment of the municipal workers and volunteers who were part of the organization of this event that the mayor described as the "magic night of culture" in Its intervention during the moments prior to the projection of a video that summarizes the day that was lived in the different spaces of Cartagena.

The mayor has revealed the data of the Museum Night 2017, which in this edition, on the occasion of the celebration of the Year of Enlightenment, has had as its axis this period of national history and in the port city.

He also congratulated all the people who have been in charge of carrying out this event, from the council officials to the volunteers, to whom he has dedicated a "special mention".

VALUE OF THE WORK OF MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES

In this ninth edition, 300 people have collaborated throughout this day, supporting both museum spaces and different activities, achieving with their altruistic work that the public enjoyed a great night.

"Undoubtedly, volunteers have become a fundamental pillar for the Cartagena Museum Night to be special, through the 'Impli-K2' service, where throughout the year young people show and demonstrate their Commitment to our municipality and our society, "said José López.

In the same vein, he highlighted the capacity of these and the municipal employees to "move" people and to work for "a greater good, which is the culture in Cartagena", and has extended his congratulations to the Department of Youth and the councilman responsible for the area, while emphasizing the role of other projects such as the Mandarache Prize and the Entre Cuerdas y Metales contest.

"You are very big, you give a very good harvest permanently," the mayor told them.

He has also thanked hotels, art galleries, bars and all entities and organizations that have collaborated "so that the Night of the Museums of Cartagena is the cultural reference for the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

Ricardo Segado, for his part, has also thanked all the workers, officials and organizers of the Night.

"Without all of you I would not have gone ahead and it would not have been possible," he told them.

"We are very satisfied because the number of visits have increased again compared to the previous year," said the mayor of Juventud, who also showed his willingness to continue working on improving Museum Night more and more as long as "is a Success and all the streets become a festival of culture and heritage.

THE NIGHT OF THE MUSEUMS IN FIGURES

In this ninth edition, devoted to the Enlightenment, 26 museum spaces opened their doors, with the Sala Isaac Peral of the Naval Museum receiving a greater number of visits, with a total of 9,599, followed by the Museum of the Roman Theater, which reached the 6,283 visitors, the Military History Museum with 6,228 and the ARQUA with 4,504 visits.

Among the municipal areas are the 4,800 Municipal Archive, the 2,802 visits to the Municipal Archaeological Museum, 1,200 to the Molina Palace, 1,185 to the Palace Hall and more than 800 visits to the Byzantine Wall.

The UPCT opened the different spaces of its university campuses: MITI, CIM, Casa del Estudiante and Antigones, which attracted more than 2,000 visitors.

Equally noteworthy is the opening of the Glass Museum, which with its blown exhibition attracted 1,650 visitors to the Santa Lucía neighborhood;

The MURAM with 3.379 and the set of museum spaces of Puerto de Culturas a total of 8,230, especially highlighting the Roman Forum with 3,022 people.

The churches of Santa María de Gracia and Santo Domingo also joined the festival of culture hosting exhibitions and exhibitions of the patrimony of the Brotherhoods Marraja, California and the Risen One.

Also the Chapel of the Christ of Mercy opened its doors.

As every year the guided routes were well received.

In the 13 routes programmed, more than 800 people registered, a great success of participation as well as the 12 children's workshops programmed to make participants in this festival of culture to the children's public, who sold out their places.

The new website www.nochemuseoscartagena.es has received more than 12,000 visits.

It has achieved a great impact of the event thanks to the social networks and QR codes that were installed by different spaces to give information about the activities.
