Operation Delhi in Cartagena (19/05/2017)

24 immigrants, 18 of them in irregular situation, and a Spanish businessman dedicated to the construction and promotion of housing have been arrested.

The registrations were used to fraudulently obtain administrative benefits before the various Public Administrations.

The businessman will charge 300 euros for fraudulent registration.

As a result of the close collaboration between the Statistical Service of the Torre Pacheco Town Hall and the National Police, and based on information previously obtained related to false census of foreign citizens in other municipalities of the national territory, 25 persons accused Of alleged crimes of documentary falsification in the fraudulent processing of registrations and authorizations of residences in Spain.

The investigations, dubbed "Operation Delhi", began two months ago when an unusual number of foreign nationals, mainly from Pakistan, India and Morocco, registered in the same building, Nationally and locally.

In these procedures were accredited addresses of the town of Murcia where they had never resided, all of them located in the same building.

The registration in the municipality of Torre Pacheco would aim to obtain various benefits to the Public Administrations, such as accreditation of residence in Spain to access authorizations for social roots, the renewal and obtaining of other residence permits, obtaining the card Sanitary, among others, and to which otherwise they would not have been able to choose.

The inquiries determined that the owner of the building where all the homes were located was a well-known promoter and builder of Torre Pacheco, who after the capture of the immigrants came fraudulently to discharge them in the Municipal Register and in homes previously selected to avoid The detection by the municipal or police services.

The employer charged 300 euros for registration

Most of the foreign citizens, besides being in irregular situation in Spain, are resident in other provinces, never having been in Murcia except for the processing of the false enumerations.

The builder, a Spanish citizen of 60 years, charged each foreign citizen amounts close to 300 euros, always depending on the period of registration required.

So far, at least fifty fictitious registrations have been credited to houses owned by them.

Some of these were even at the same time leased to people of different nationalities who at all times did not know their new "roommates."

The facts have been brought to the notice of the various official bodies involved, in addition to the Single Office of Aliens.

In addition to the constructor, twenty-four people from Pakistan, India and Morocco have been arrested, 18 of them in irregular situation in Spain.

The investigations have been carried out by the Aliens and Borders Brigade of the National Police Police Station in Cartagena, not being ruled out further arrests in the coming weeks.
