The person in charge of the gloss to Daoíz and Velarde has been the General of Division of the Army Fernando Garci'a-Vaquero, who has presided the homage.

Also, the colonel and chief of the regiment, Enrique Silvela, has also dedicated a few words to those in attendance in which he highlighted the union between the civilian people and the military at that moment so outstanding and crucial of the history of the country.

The national anthem, accompanied by a line of salvos thrown by a battery of honors of period guns, and a military parade by the Walk Alfonso XII closed the day.

"It is a day in which we feel especially proud as citizens and as soldiers in this city of Cartagena that welcomes us all," said Colonel Enrique Silvela, who recalled that the Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment is currently in Turkey, on the border with Syria, "protecting an allied country from possible ballistic missile launches that could affect its territory," in the 5 million-strong city of Adana.

Silvela explained that "this is where we can see the solidarity between allies and, on the other hand, the technological capacity of Spain, which is one of the few countries in the world capable of providing such support";

A capacity which he said "is within reach of very few".

The mayor of the city, for his part, has defined this tribute as "a magnificent act" that recalls "a historical landmark" and, along the lines of Enrique Silvela, "the spark that caused a people to unite against the invasive".

Lopez lamented that Spanish society does not always remain united and only do so in extreme situations of this draft, and considered an example "that Spain worked together for a common interest, for the general interest of the country and not for the spurious interest of the parties Politicians who today divide the parliamentary arc. "

Asked by the press, the mayor also referred to issues such as the written communication of his municipal group to the government partners regarding the conditions agreed at the time for the transfer of powers, the public address of the acts of the May 1 and its forecasts regarding the relationship of the municipal government team with the new regional president.
