The scientific and technical popularization fair of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), the Engineering Campus, will next week beat its attendance record with about 6,300 students enrolled, up 18% over last year.
The increase in interest in the Engineering Campus of educational centers throughout the Region has motivated several to be out of place for this edition.
"Every year we receive more requests and we have prioritized the schools and institutes that we had not visited previously," explains José Luis Serrano, Coordinator of the UPCT's Scientific and Innovation Culture Unit.
55% of the attendees will be students of secondary and high school this year, and the remaining 45%, elementary and junior students.
All of them will be able to participate in the workshops and scientific exhibitions of the researchers and disseminators of the Polytechnic of Cartagena, technological companies and students of teachers formed by the CPR.
Of the thirty workshops given by UPCT students and teachers, most of them are premiered at the 2017 Engineering Campus. Participants at the fair will be able to handle submarine drones, build docks for ports, discover the first cinematographers , Modify the urban development of the Mar Menor, edit genomes or geolocalize mobile devices using wifi or bluetooth.
The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology - Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the Séneca Foundation, which sponsors the prizes to the best workshops among those who will carry out the educational centers whose teachers have been trained with the CPR in technological dissemination and have developed with their students scientific experiments.
