The Summer Schools will offer more than 1,400 places for the Cartagena children during this 2017 (21/04/2017)

The summer schools 2017 will offer this year various activities including music colony, summer road education, sea workshops, summer activities in centers at risk of social exclusion and summer schools, and will offer just over 1,400 seats for Children and youth of the municipality of Cartagena.

This was announced this Friday, April 21, the Councilor Delegate for Education and Equality, David Martinez, who has been accompanied at a press conference by the representative of the Rascasa Association, Elisa García;

And the vice president of the Regatas Club, María Escudero.

During the presentation, Martinez recalled that the Leisure and Leisure programs offered by the council that directs for non-school periods, such as Christmas or summer vacations, have as objectives to offer leisure alternatives and free time that promote personal development Of the students, help the family conciliation and show the resources of cultural and natural heritage of the municipality.

In total, there will be 1490 places offered for this summer, of which 1,050 will be addressed to summer schools in 11 centers in the municipality;

180 for musical colonies;

200 places for the workshops of the sea;

And 60 places for the workshops of road education in summer;

Which will mean a total cost of 159,796 euros to be borne by the Department of Education.

Entries can be made from next Monday, April 24, until May 10, through the municipal website www.cartagena.es.

On May 18, the provisional lists of admitted and excluded will be made public, and the next day the claims period will be opened, which will remain open until May 24.

On May 29, Martinez has remarked, the definitive lists will be announced and, between May 30 and June 15, the deadline for delivery of documentation will be open.

At the same time, information sessions will be held with the parents and the company awarded the contract for municipal schools.

Likewise, underlined the mayor of Education, will not follow a chronological order of registration to award the places of summer schools.

In the case of summer schools and the activities of the Asdrúbal, Aníbal and Stella Maris schools, if there is more demand than places offered, a place will be awarded, taking into account different criteria, so that the child will receive a scholarship of Dining room during this course, their parents are in active employment status and income.

ACTIVITIES OF THIS SUMMER

Thus, the musical colonies, which will be held in different shifts during the month of July in the facilities of the Professional Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, will seek to offer recreational activities in which participants will create and play music, and will know musical instruments and families To which belong each.

The sessions will be structured from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a babysitting service from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There will be three shifts, from 1 to 15 July, from 16 to 31 July and all the month of July, with an offer of 90 seats per shift.

On the other hand, this summer repeats the activity 'Workshops of the sea', aimed at children between 6 and 17 children, who will learn the handling of sails, parts of the boat, gear, winds and knots.

In addition, the participants will receive notions of bearings and the main maneuvers such as tacking, cross-surfing, tightening or wetting.

The activities will take place at the Club de Regatas, from Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 2 pm and with a babysitting service from 8.30 am to 9.30 am and from 2 pm to 2.30 pm.

There will be two shifts, from 1 to 15 July, and from 16 to 31 July.

Within the summer schools, explained the councilman, there is a group in which the schools Antonio Ulloa, Azorín (Molinos Marfagones), Concepción Arenal, Mediterranean (La Manga), San Gines de la Jara, San Isidoro (El Algar), Vicente Medina (Los Doloers) and Luis Vives (El Albujón) who have places for students from 3 to 12 years old who will seek to foster "a space for creativity and organization of the students' rest periods and Which will include the dining room.

The schedule of these activities will be from 9.00 to 14.00 hours from Monday to Friday, with service of kangaroo.

Another package of activities will be developed in collaboration with the Association Rascasa, which will take place in the schools Asdrúbal de Lo Campano, Hannibal of Los Mateos, and Stella Maris of the Barriada Virgen de la Caridad.

The mayor of Education has expressed his satisfaction that it is this association that organizes the activities in these neighborhoods because they are neighborhoods with population at risk of social exclusion, reason why it is pursued with this initiative "to facilitate a space Open to coexistence among children during the summer, providing recreational, sports, cultural and social activities for the promotion of responsible use of leisure time and leisure.

The activities will be aimed at children from 5 to 12 years and will be held from 11.00 to 15.00 hours, Monday through Friday, and will also have dining service.

PRICES OF THE ACTIVITIES

The Department of Education subsidizes the activities offered in the Summer Schools for this year 2017. Thus, the activities of road education, summer activities in schools Asdrúbal, Aníbal and Stella Maris and Summer Schools will be totally free, these Last subsidized, in addition to the council, by the European Social Fund.

For their part, the musical colonies will have an amount of 90 euros per child, for half-month shifts and 160 euros for the full month, while the rest of the cost of the activity will be subsidized by the council that runs David Martinez.
