The Ministry of Health is committed to decongest mental health care in area II (22/03/2017)

The councilor of the area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, has moved this morning to Murcia to hold a meeting with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Martín Quiñonero.

The event was held at the headquarters of the Ministry, addressing different issues that mark the health agenda in Cartagena and Comarca.

Thus, Calderón, also responsible for the Department of Health in the council of Cartagena, has been informed of the commitment of the regional government to differentiate, in a real and effective way, the area of ​​competence of Health areas II and VIII in regard to care Mental health.

It should be recalled that the local executive, through Francisco Calderón, has repeatedly expressed concern about the filling of the service, caused especially by the fact that patients in the area of ​​Health VIII (San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcázares) are served in the center of Cartagena.

To solve this situation, as proposed by the City Council and responsible for the Mental Health Center of Cartagena, the Ministry of Health has confirmed the intention to strengthen, as a priority, the Mental Health Unit existing in the Hospital of Los Arcos de San Javier.

This measure will make it possible for users in that area to be cared for there and not be forced to travel to Cartagena, achieving a better and more agile service for patients in both areas.

THE BENEFITS OF THE HYPERBARIC CAMERA

During the meeting, Quiñonero has transferred to Calderón his agreement with the impulse given by the City Council and the area of ​​Health II to promote clinical studies, which would be carried out from rheumatology and internal medicine of the Hospital of Santa Lucía, that address the benefits that can cause The use of the hyperbaric chamber in people suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

After the meeting held on February 27 between the mayor and the manager of the area of ​​Health II, the proposal was assumed by the aforementioned management in order to advance in its implementation as soon as possible.

In the wake of this affair, on 8 February, Calderón held a meeting with the Brother Major of the Holy and Real Hospital of Charity 'Los Pinos', Jose Vera.

In this meeting the foundations were laid to foster a collaboration agreement between the Hospital and associations of the municipality and in which the City Council would act as an intermediary.

This agreement would be articulated to obtain that the entities that require it can use the hyperbaric chamber in order to obtain the valuation of clinical studies related to certain diseases.
