The figure of Bach approaches all Cartagena corners (21/03/2017)

The members of the Claroscuro Gallery, Anabel Sáez and Emilio Fenoll, inaugurated this morning the activities of the Bach Cartagena initiative, which for the second year will bring to the people of Cartagena the figure of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach and other masters of the baroque.

All events, which will take place between April and May, have been presented at a press conference by Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the director of the platform Early Music Project, co-organizer of the program, Jorge Losana, the general coordinator of the Campus Of Excellence 'Mare Nostrum', Pilar Garrido, and the vice-chancellor of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Sergio Amat.

The inauguration and presentation of these activities coincide with the Early Music Day, European Day of Ancient Music, celebrated to commemorate the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach.

A program that Martinez has celebrated has a continuity, since there were activities around the figure of Bach at the end of last year, to bring the baroque music "to all corners of Cartagena and people of all ages."

Both the European Day of Ancient Music concerts and the rest of Bach Cartagena's activities are part of the cultural program of the Year of the Enlightenment.

For his part, Losana thanked the Department of Culture and other collaborating entities for the support of this European initiative, which is joined by Cartagena "with which it connects with Europe, not only through Early Music Day, but also with The other activity to be held in May here and in the center of Europe: Bach Participativo ".

The director of Early Music Project has encouraged the people of Cartagena to participate in these activities that seek to invade public places to better know a music that is not very present in our days, not only being able to listen to it, but having the opportunity to know it and Understand it.

After the press conference, Sáez to the key and Fenoll to the baroque violin have interpreted six pieces of Bach in front of more than a hundred students of the bachillerato of arts, introduced by a small text of Bach.

They have also encouraged young people to reflect what music transmits to them through writing, painting, photography or any art and to bring them that reflection of the feelings that music awakens in people.

"Music intervenes directly in the body, mind and spirit of people, affecting emotions and mood, and Bach was a magician of emotions thanks to his deep spirituality and sensitivity" has told the audience Harpsichordist

The program will continue this afternoon at 19:30 at the "Enrique Escudero" Archaeological Museum with a talk-concert under the title "Bach and the Music of the Enlightenment" by the Canary Island philoso- phy and musicologist Marina Hervás and musicians David Gutiérrez (Traverso), Borja Gimeno (baroque violin) and Alberto Gómez (baroque cello).

The concert is framed within the acts of the Year of the Enlightenment.

Admission is free and free.

Between April 24 and 26 will be held various educational concerts under the title Bach & Kids.

This year this activity extends to universities and libraries, and in it the attendees will be able to listen to baroque music explained in an entertaining way by experts.

On May 11 will take place the last activity of the program, the 'Cantata Participativa'.

An activity in which the barrier is broken with the public.

The solo choir interprets part of the arias and the recitatives, while all the assistants are invited to sing the corals.

A recreation of the original interpretation of the cantatas of JS Bach in the Thomannerkirche of Leipzig in century XVIII.

All this accompanied by an orchestra that seeks an interpretation as faithful as possible to the original.
