The Councilor for Sports of the City of Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, along with Cartagena Red Cross president, Gabriel Ruiz, presented this morning the first edition of the Zumba Solidarity Master Class, organized by Red Cross Cartagena in collaboration with the City Council.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 11 from 12:00 to 13:30 hours in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Those interested in collaborating must contribute two kilos of non-perishable food that will be destined to the work carried out by the Red Cross in the Region of Cartagena.

SEVEN ZUMBA ACTIONS

The solidarity day will have seven zumba performances that will be in charge of sports monitors of various gyms and neighborhood associations of the municipality.

The mayor explained that "the Department of Sports lends all its support to this event and wishes the greatest success to Cartagena Red Cross in the collection of food."

In the same way, Segado thanked the collaboration of the gyms of the city "for their disinterested participation, facilitating with their monitors the successful accomplishment of this activity".

During the presentation, held at the Palace Hall, Red Cross Cartagena president Gabriel Ruiz encouraged to collaborate with this solidarity activity and expressed his gratitude to the Department of Sports and gyms of Cartagena "for their cooperation to make possible this event".

Finally, Segado has encouraged to participate in this event that combines sport and solidarity and to "enjoy the dance and the excellent environment of our port, thus collaborating with the Red Cross to help alleviate the social needs with which they find themselves every day."

RED CROSS ATEINDE TO MORE THAN 1.200 THE CARTAGENA REGION

Cruz Roja served more than one thousand two hundred people during the year 2016, among whom more than sixty tons of food were distributed in the Region of Cartagena.

In this sense, Gabriel Ruiz said that "these data indicate that today there are many people who are at risk of exclusion."
