Wednesday starts the countdown of Holy Week processions (28/02/2017)

On March 1, Ash Wednesday, will take place the traditional Call of the processions of Holy Week.

The act that brings together the procesionil cartagenera family to obtain the municipal approval to the passional parades, will be celebrated as it has been taking place for years from the main balcony of the Palace Hall, at 20:30 hours.

Previously, from seven in the afternoon, the general councils of the four brotherhoods will meet to decide to take the processions to the street.

Afterwards, the four will go in retinue to Palace Hall.

There they will be received by the mayor, José López, and the councilors of the Municipal Corporation.

Already on the balcony will take the floor the president of the Board of Guilds, which this year is the older brother of Socorro, Manuel Martinez Guillen.

The mayor will respond by giving consent to the celebration of the processions and will deliver the check, which constitutes the direct cash aid allocated by the consistory to the cofradías.

The event will conclude with the usual order of the mayor of "music and street" to address all together at the pace of Holy Week marches to the Basilica of Charity where the offering will be made to the patron.

The Call constitutes the beginning of the countdown of the processions and opens the Lent in which the brotherhoods display an important activity.

This year as a novelty, the Proclamation of Easter Week will also have this character, because instead of Friday Dolores, will be held next Saturday, March 4, at the Auditorium of the UPCT and will be in charge of Ginés Fernández Garrido.
