Urbanism and Infrastructure launches image and renamed Sustainable Development (24/02/2017)

The Area of ​​Government of Urbanism and Infrastructures of the City of Cartagena changes of image and also of denomination, from now it will be the Area of ​​Sustainable Development, a change that the mayor, Jose López, who in addition is the person in charge of this Council, the Has been based on the need to adjust more to the real competences it covers and adapt it to a more current language.

It should be remembered that these competences, which directly affect the relationship of citizens with their municipality and local administration, are the following:

Planning, management, execution and urban and environmental discipline.

Protection and management of historical heritage.

Municipal land patrimony.

Protection and management of public housing with criteria of financial sustainability.

Conservation and rehabilitation of buildings.

Urban environment: in particular, protection against noise, light and air pollution in urban areas.

Parks and public gardens.

Management of solid urban waste.

Supply of drinking water at home and evacuation and treatment of waste water.

Discharge into the sewage system.

Road infrastructure and other facilities owned by the municipality.

Street cleaning.

Mobility.

Urban collective transport of travelers.

Municipal mobile park

Urban equipment and furniture.

Street lighting.

Therefore, and in view of the fact that it is an area that works, transversally with the rest of Government Areas, in planning and achieving a more accessible and respectful municipality, developing a municipality project that improves and optimizes its present configuration, All this work to the citizen, it has been considered advisable to give a new name and a more appropriate and current image to this Area of ​​Government, which will be, from now on, Sustainable Development.

The change of name and its logo was presented this morning at the Local Government Board, which also approved the multiannual expenses necessary for the next recruitment, expected in June, of certain municipal services whose validity will extend beyond the December 31, 2017.

Specific:

Electric, electronic maintenance and attendance services at the Auditorium Palacio de Congresos "El Batel": 75,000 euros, with a validity of one year.

Maintenance service of fire detection and protection facilities in municipal buildings: 60,984 euros, with a validity of four years.

Maintenance service of the traffic control systems of the City of Cartagena: 137,000 euros, with a validity of one year.

Health surveillance service for municipal workers: 171,800 euros with a validity of two years.

Services and supply of materials for the Municipal Mobile Park: 203,000 euros, with a term of validity of one year.

Comprehensive library service: 133,100 euros, with a validity of four years.

Cleaning and maintenance of premises and furniture of clubs for the elderly, reserved for special employment centers: 70,000 euros, with a validity of two years.

Service of management of day-care center of Los Dolores: 417,120 euros, with a validity of two years.

Service of management of day-care center of El Algar: 417,120 euros, with a validity of two years.

It has also been approved the generation of credit for the provision of infrastructure in the plot where the weekly market of Peral Quarter is located, for 14,000 euros.

The Local Government Board has also approved the direct granting of a subsidy of 40,000 euros to the Federation of Associations of Neighbors, Consumers and Users of Cartagena.

He has also approved another grant amounting to 1,069,938 euros to the Foundation of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, corresponding to the municipal contribution this year to defray the amortization and interest of the loans of the works of recovery and valorization of the archaeological site And its museum, jointly undertaken by the City Council, the Autonomous Community and the Caja Murcia Foundation.

The admission bases for pupils aged 0 to 3 years old, corresponding to the first cycle of pre-school education in the Municipal Infantile Schools for the 2017/2018 school year, have also been approved.

As a novelty this year, La Palma is added to the network of municipal schools, along with those already existing in El Algar, Barrio de Peral, Barrio de la Concepción, La Milagrosa, Pozo Estrecho, Los Mateos, Villalba, The Charity and Vista Alegre.

The application period will open on Monday, March 6.
