The New Culture for the Climate Cycle begins with the screening of the documentary Tomorrow and a round table on climate change (09/02/2017)

This Friday, February 10, at 6:30 p.m., the documentary film 'Mañana' will be screened and a round table on climate change will be organized.

Both activities will be held at the Cultural Center Ramon Alonzo Luzzy and will be free until full capacity.

'Tomorrow', a film that won the César Award for Best Documentary, came about following the publication of a study announcing the possible disappearance of part of humanity by 2100. It was at this time that its directors, Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent , Set out to start their own research in ten countries, together with a team of four, to find out what could be causing such a catastrophe and, above all, how it could be avoided.

During their trip they met pioneers who were reinventing agriculture, energy, economics, democracy and education.

By implementing these concrete, positive initiatives, which are already under way in some places, and proving that they work, the directors began to realize what the world of tomorrow could be.

On the other hand, at 20:30 hours, after the screening of the film, there will be a round table entitled 'Today we build tomorrow' in which will discuss how to build a resilient society.

The meeting will be held by Ángel Silvente, vice president of New Culture for the Climate and coordinator of the Law on Climate Change in the Region of Murcia, and Antonio Soler, President of New Culture for the Climate and vice president of La Solar Energy Society Cooperative.

Climate change will be treated as a challenge that we can not avoid.

Even reducing emissions to zero, climate inertia inexorably poses the need to adapt our environments to achieve greater resilience, a greater capacity to withstand extreme events.

The last few years give unequivocal examples of this: winters without cold, long heat waves, rains with unknown patterns, and a long etcetera.

All this compromises our productive systems, such as agriculture or tourism, as well as our sanitary systems or urbanism among others.

Along with emission reductions or mitigation, adaptation must be rapidly advanced.

In this day will remember this crucial issue, raising improvements and the opportunities it offers to build a society more efficient in the use of resources and more competitive to the extent that we are able to cushion the impact of events that we are already feeling
