Decentralization extends the opening hours of the Ovoid of the coast (08/02/2017)

The dissolution of the Municipal Institute of Litoral Services (Imsel), has served to strengthen the commitment of the Councilor for Decentralization, Juan Pedro Torralba, to bring the administration closer to citizens, expanding the opening hours of the Offices for Citizen Attention ).

In this way, the recently inaugurated Omita de Los Belones will be open 1 day a week to 3, La Manga goes from 3 days to 5 (Monday to Friday), the office located in Los Urrutias will continue Opening 1 day a week and opens a new Omita in Los Nietos, which will serve citizens 4 days a week.

The mayor said that "with this measure, and employing some of the staff of the former Imsel, we managed to bring the administration closer to the neighbors, so they can communicate their incidents and proposals to improve the environment in which they reside, while They are given the opportunity to process documents such as registering their writings, building permits and any other municipal consultation. "

Beach action plan for Easter

Decentralization started the cleanup of the beaches as soon as the rain and wind storms that hit Cartagena in mid-December last year ended.

So far, more than 2,600 tons of algae, reeds from the channels of the different rambles, and a large amount of waste, such as plastics, car wheels, wood and garbage, have been collected from the beaches of the Cartagena coast. Sea took to the beaches.

The cleaning work with machinery is advancing at a good pace, despite last week our coast suffered a new storm, but it is vital to remove all the seaweed that is on the seashore.

This is a procedure that must be done manually so as not to damage the marine ecosystem and, therefore, is also very slow and costly, given the personnel it requires.

"We, from the Town Hall, were in charge of doing so, but after these two very strong storms we need Costas and the Autonomous Community to assume their share of the work, because we must remember that it is Costas' competence because these algae are in the water "Said the councilman.

In addition, some beaches such as Punta Brava, Los Urrutias, Estrella de Mar and Los Nietos have lost a lot of sand from their beaches with the storm, so it is also the responsibility of Costas to supply us the necessary sand to adapt them, so that they can be in conditions Before Easter.

Maintenance Tasks

The mayor of Decentralization has also coordinated the works of recognition of parks and gardens of the coast, with special emphasis on those of the area of La Manga and Cabo de Palos, to be able to rectify all the anomalies, repopulate the green areas and install children's games And, in some cases as in Los Nietos, biosaludables.

Picnic tables will also be set up in the recently remodeled Plaza del Navegante de Los Urrutias, catering to requests from neighbors in the area.

Likewise, the tasks of cleaning and maintenance of public thoroughfares throughout Cartagena's coastal strip have also been implemented, including the replacement of traffic signs and street furniture.

Three new portable toilets in Los Nietos, Punta Brava and Los Urrutias will also be installed in preparation for Easter, with the intention of offering a comprehensive service on the beaches, which also includes footbaths and walkways.

Likewise, the need to initiate a joint action with the Consortium of La Manga to make improvements in the asphalting of the zone of the Entremares, which will be accompanied by the repair of the firm deteriorated in other streets of La Manga and Mar de Cristal.

Situation of services on the coast

Juan Pedro Torralba has started a round of contacts with the neighbors and groups of coastal towns in the municipality, to explain how they are carrying out the services of the coast after the disappearance of the Imsel.

"All the work we are doing aims to fully equate the services provided on the coast with those we present in the rest of the municipality.

Until now, our beaches were an exclusive area of activity of the Imsel, now the management and monitoring are carried out from the area of Decentralization, "explained Torralba.

So far has held meetings in Isla Plana and La Manga, tomorrow will visit Los Belones to continue explaining the new situation.

Coastal Coordinator

Torralba has named Francisco García Alfaro as the new coordinator of the Coast and as such has presented at these meetings.

García Alfaro is the person who serves as a liaison between the council, workers and residents, as it will be responsible for collecting the requests and needs of each area and start the procedures to solve them
