Technical visit

The Minister of Culture said that it will be next week when technicians from the Community carry out the technical visits to the building recently acquired by the regional administration to carry out the first actions guaranteeing security inside the building and start work for its recovery.

This property has two bodies: building of shows, distributed in lobby, cafeteria, patio of armchairs, amphitheater, projection room, stage, changing rooms and office;

And a second residential building, composed of ground floor plus three floors above ground level.

The technical inspections and the works that will begin will determine the actions to be determined and the spaces that are conserved and can be recovered from the original building of 1880. For example, everything seems to indicate that, after important works that were carried out in the front Of the armchair in 1953, the original screen and stage are hidden, which would make it one of the national cinematographic jewels.

"The purchase of the Central Cinema by the Community and its recovery demonstrates the firm commitment to Cartagena and the culture of the Government of Pedro Antonio Sánchez We are developing an integral project for all the facilities of the Community in the Plaza de la Merced, Which we want to transform into the Plaza de la Cultura, where artistic efforts are added and we can take advantage of the synergies that are generated, "concluded the minister.
