The Center for Women in the Urbanization of the Mediterranean convenes its contests for poetry and painting (04/01/2017)

The Councilor for Culture, Education and Equality, David Martinez, presented this Wednesday the XXVI Poetry Contest and the X Painting Contest 'Angel Flowers', which convenes the Women's Center of the Mediterranean Urbanization with the collaboration of the council Of Equality of the City of Cartagena.

During the presentation, Martinez was accompanied by the president of the Women's Center, María Alcaraz.

The council has invited all the writers of Cartagena, as well as other points in Spain and even the world to participate in this contest.

On the other hand, Martinez has highlighted painting, an activity "that fills our exhibition rooms" and in which "people are increasingly younger people who express themselves through this art" and has been certain that "there will be great Works that will be presented to the contest ".

In turn, he expressed his gratitude to the association for its work in organizing these two contests as "it is very difficult to keep this type of contests, and yet go for the tenth painting and twenty-sixth poetry."

Thus, has ensured that the Department of Equality of Cartagena "will continue to support this type of initiatives because we believe that they keep the culture alive in our associations and in every corner of our municipality."

For its part, the president of the Women's Center for Mediterranean Urbanization has pointed out that men and women from the age of 16 can participate, who can submit their proposals until February 11, in the case of the poetry contest, and until the February 24 for the poetry contest.

The jury for both modalities, which is composed of experts from the world of culture, teachers, as well as members of the organization, will announce its ruling on March 4.

In addition, has nominated Alcaraz, both competitions will have two prizes, consisting of the first in a commemorative trophy and 300 euros, while the second winner will receive 100 euros, and has encouraged the participation of residents of Urbanización Mediterráneo and the rest of Cartagena in this Type of activities that "allow to continue maintaining the culture in our neighborhood".
