The Community will tender this month for the construction of the Los Nietos storm tank in Cartagena (04/01/2017)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment is going to tender this January of the construction works of the Los Nietos Avenues lamination deposit (Cartagena), whose works will have an execution period of approximately 10 months and a budget of 2,317. 470 euros.

Water Director Andres Martinez today examined the land where the storm tank will be located, as well as the layout of the vials where the collectors will run to collect rainwater.

The objective of the works is the capture and storage of rainwater of the western area of ​​the population, with an extension of about 29 hectares, which will prevent the runoff waters to reach the beaches and the Mar Menor waters of the Population, in addition to avoiding the flood of buildings by the surface runoff of the roadways.

The works include the construction of a main manifold of 1,300 meters in length of variable diameter between 315 and 1.000 millimeters.

It has also been projected a set of five secondary branches, with a total length of 1,030 meters in length, with diameters ranging between 315 and 500 mm, which will collect the waters west of the storm tank.

The deposit consists of a reinforced concrete vessel, projected with screen walls, with a rectangular floor plan of 18.88 by 13.79 meters and 6.61 meters of depth, covered with a slab likewise of reinforced concrete.

It has two equal modules of 6.67 meters wide and 18.88 meters long.

The total useful volume will be about 1,320 cubic meters.

On the east wall of the tank, the water outlet spill has been projected, which will only work when the storm exceeds the tank filling forecasts, from which a 400 mm diameter and 12 meter long pipe will be discharged An existing general manifold registration well.

The emptying of the tank will be done by two pumps of three kilowatts housed in the modules, which carry the water through a conduit of 12 meters in length and 400 millimeters in diameter to the sewage network, once the storm episode has finished.

The project also includes the electrical installations necessary for the correct functioning, scuppers of surface water catchment, as well as the gardening and urbanization of the plot and the replacement of the affected services.
