Luis Leal runs a show of historical action, with eight thoroughbred Spanish horses and more than 100 pieces of original costumes made by the Alicante company.

Four noble knights are disputing the victory to prove that their lady is the most beautiful cruceña.

The winner gets the custodian of the sacred Cross of Caravaca as prized prize.

Three fighters come from the Kingdoms of Aragon, Galicia and Levante, and a quarter of the perfidious Albion.

Great Medieval Tournament

"The magic of fair tournaments fascinates parents and children," says Luis Leal.

At the end of the tournament, only one of the suitors remains.

"As for a Don Quixote there is a Dulcinea, for our knights there is a maiden for wielding a sword in the noble village of Caravaca de la Cruz," points out the host D. Rodrigo de Artal y García, Count de Elda y Marqués Of Villena.

'The City of the Cross'

Since 1998 Caravaca is one of the eight holy cities of the Catholic Church in the world, with privilege to celebrate the Jubilee every seven years around the Santísima and Vera Cruz de Caravaca.
