The Libreta Mandarache workshop selects fifteen young people to train them in the book world (17/11/2016)

Libreta Mandarache is a new line of action for the Mandarache Project, a seminar of young authors organized in collaboration between the Cartagena City Council, the project's promoter, and the library of the National Museum of Underwater Archeology ARQUA, which will host this seminar coordinated by the editor of Balduque and poet José Alcaraz.

The young people are between 15 and 23 years old and come from different educational centers of Cartagena.

These 15 young people have passed the selection process and have finally been chosen to participate in the Libreta Mandarache workshop, aimed at the training of young people in the professional world of the book, and this afternoon have been welcomed by the Councilor for Youth, Ricardo Segado and the curator of the ARQUA Museum, Patricia Recio, who will also guide a special visit for the group.

In total 25 applications have been submitted and after evaluating their motivation letters and the sample of their literary works, finally have been selected 15 official participants and 5 substitutes.

The selection has been made by non-teaching members of the Mandarache Project Promoter Group together with the coordinator José Alcaraz and the level of the sample work presented has been generally very high, especially considering the age of the candidates and their short literary background.

Throughout the school year students will receive writing and literature classes as a seminar, in order to generate processes of growth in the world of book and literary creation continued over time and at a deep level.

In addition, those selected will enjoy six master classes given by each of the official finalists of the Mandarache and Hache Awards.

Participants will not only gain new literary knowledge and progress in the creative field, they will also learn to get started in the literary environment and the researcher.

From the theory and the writing will give way to a global conception of the book world.

In this way, the operation of the various actors in the sector (editorials, critics, prizes, bookstores, archives ...) and the relationship of writers with them will be a natural part of programming.

The group of selected students is composed of 10 girls and 5 boys, most of them 16 and 17 years, although there are also participants of 15, 18, 19 and 23 years.

Most of them come from secondary schools, in particular the IES Los Molinos, Jimenez de la Espada, Pedro Peñalver, Isaac Peral, San Isidoro, Galileo, Carthago Spartaria and Narval School;

To which are added students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

The last session of the workshop will take place in the month of May and is entitled Arquaescritura Jam de script en vivo.

It is designed as an act open to the general public, an improvised writing session coordinated by Marcos Xalabarder founder of the project Writing Live in Barcelona, ​​in which participants as a literary jam will write live and will project their texts in order to That the public can share the magical moment in which the writer creates.
