Cartagena will raise the voice in favor of the Rights of the Child (17/11/2016)

A series of activities will be held on Friday 18 November in the city center, the rights of children on the occasion of the International Day of Children's Rights, held internationally every 20 November to remind the importance of Protection, health and education of the world's children.

The celebration of this International Day of Children's Rights in Cartagena, included in the Social Prevention Program of the Department of Social Services and Social Mediation, and the Department of Education, was presented this morning by the councilors Francisco Calderón, Carmen Martín and David Martínez, who have given all the details about the activities.

In this year 2016 emphasis has been placed on collaboration with secondary schools related to the artistic and social sphere, as well as organizations and organizations that work throughout childhood with AMPAS or Associations of the Elderly, related to the defense and Promotion of children's rights.

With the aim of ensuring that children are the main protagonists, on Friday morning the different activities will be developed in the city center, where about 800 students from different centers will participate.

All sectors of the population linked to the social, educational and family environment of the child will also be involved, as they are responsible for ensuring their protection and care.

The Councilor for Education, David Martinez, has pointed out that we must not forget that we must work day by day for the welfare and development of these children and to develop their potential to the fullest.

Education is an investment and not an expense, and we must ensure that everyone has access to these basic rights, he added, highlighting the work of centers, families and associations and encouraging citizens to take to the streets to join these acts .

Activities will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the Second March for the Rights of the Child. Walk for your dreams.

The concentration of participants will take place on Calle Carmen Conde, next to the taxi stand, and will run to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where at 11:40 a reading will be read for the rights of children, which will feature the Assistance of the mayor of Cartagena, José López.

In addition, other activities will be carried out by primary, secondary and secondary schools such as the Matinito theater performance (11:05) by IES students Ben Arabi and Pipiripao, assembly of a giant puzzle (11:30) , A flash mob (11:50) and a final animation to conclude the act around 13:00 hours.
