Equality will hold workshops on co-responsibility in the home or non-violent and sexist toys in Cartagena schools (08/11/2016)

The Councilor for Equality and Education, David Martinez, accompanied by the coordinator of the Department of Equality, M. José Mercader, today moved to the Garden City school on 8 November in order to carry out activities to promote equality with Girls and boys and present the program of their Department for this purpose.

This educational program for the promotion of equality in the school environment proposed by the Department of Equality of Cartagena, aimed at students of 2nd and 3rd year of primary education and 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of primary education, consists of training activities Intended, according to Councilman Martinez, to promote changes in gender relations that allow correcting stereotypes and discriminatory behavior of all kinds that hinder the progress towards real equality.

With the collaboration of the municipal libraries of Cartagena, various stories of equal content for the children, which the councilor of Equality has shown and read to his small audience during the visit, will be given to schools.

In addition, in the schools, workshops will be held adapted to the different ages of the older participants of the program: non-sexist and non-violent toys and games of middle age, and a responsible joint responsibility in the care of the home, For seniors.

Equal education is the priority tool to ensure that girls and boys are able to identify themselves with roles, feelings and emotions that enhance their integral development, without the preconceived sexist ideas and gender stereotypes, and for this it is fundamental The involvement of children's and elementary schools.

DECALOGUE FOR PARENTS

The educational centers attached to the program will also receive a decalogue in the form of a poster for the parents of the students.

This decalogue is aimed at the reflection of adults on the values ​​of each toy's background, on what it perpetuates.
