Education again requests the City of Cartagena to surrender a suitable site to build the new school Aljorra (26/10/2016)

Secretary General of Education and Universities highlights the regional government "will not allow a center to be built anywhere that poses a risk, with unfavorable reports"

To start a site suitable actions before six months is needed, since the ERDF funds have a maximum execution time

The Ministry of Education and Universities reapplication to the City of Cartagena assignment of a suitable site in order to expedite the construction of the new school of La Aljorra, following the issuance by the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) a unfavorable report on the solar proposed for such construction, and after a further meeting with representatives of the CHS and the General Directorate of Planning reiterating the "impracticality" of the solar proposed under the current conditions.

Specifically, the CHS specified in his report that the proposed site "is located in a flood zone and preferential flow, with high probability of flooding".

Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Universities, Manuel Marcos Sánchez, explained that "the regional government will not build a center in any location where it endanger anyone, when unfavorable reports for it."

In addition, the Ministry has urged the City Council to arrange a plot suitable for the construction of the school in a non-extendable period of six months, to start drafting the project.

"We urgently need to have the site, since the ERDF funds have a maximum execution time and the grant is lost if times for the construction of school are not met," said the secretary general.

"The regional government is committed to that available Aljorra a school that best meets the safety and functionality for college students and the residents of the residential areas of the environment," said Manuel Marcos Sánchez.

Thus, from the Ministry they have already held several meetings with the educational community of La Aljorra to analyze solutions and accelerate the construction of the center once a suitable site for it is transferred.

"We want to start early work on the new unified school of La Aljorra, a modern, tailored to the needs of schooling in the area, but we need the assignment of a site that meets the conditions for its construction," said general secretary.

The Ministry has a budget of more than four million euros for this performance, the work to be financed by European funds FEDER.

Marcos Manuel Sanchez urged the council to "expedite" the transfer of a viable site for the construction of a center and "prevent the grant provided to launch the new center is lost."

Thus, he stressed that "the important thing is to work together to expedite the construction of this school for which we already have the necessary investment."
