The Cartagena Jazz Festival concerts commitment halls and streets of the city in its 36th edition (13/10/2016)

Jazz in different rooms of the city and street music are two of the main bets of the 36th edition of the Cartagena Jazz Festival, where there will also be a strong support to groups in the region.

Every Saturday November Jazz Street;

Icue Square will host free concerts at 12:30 pm where you can listen to jazz, swing, rock and shows for children.

Local Mr Witt, living Holy, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, the hall of Nuevo Teatro Circo and the auditorium of the Polytechnic University will be hosting the Off Jazz program, which will be developed on alternate days of November.

All concerts are free except the one held in the El Santo, on Friday November 18 and will feature Marengo Jazz Quartet and Martina Dry.

The four Saturdays November at 12:30 hours there will be free music Icue Square.

Zoot Suiters be the band responsible for opening this scenario on November 4.

The swing group who lives in Murcia offers a show of authentic swing and jazz, very focused on the dance floor, with great themes of the last century.

The swing will advance to rock'n'roll, and the Pike Cavalero November 12 will be the star of the day.

Cavalero will be presenting his first album in Castilian Without fear of flying, where their defined mix sounds stale, classic rock'n'roll and rockabilly music, with lyrics in Castilian.

Saturday 19 will be the turn of A Quarter Of A Dozen Band, a musical project in quartet format, with a repertoire of the most varied, visiting classics ranging from traditional jazz to Balkan music and klezmer, through the bolero, chachachá, bossa nova.

A week later, on November 26, there will be a double feature with Marching Band, which will bring the public the repertoire of the tradition of New Orlenas and Cotijazz Kids, an interactive and participatory show for children that aims to bring jazz to the most young boys.

JAZZ IN HALLS

Off Jazz program starts on Friday November 4 at El Santo with Mood Swing.

This trio of musicians Cartagena have in the swing, rhythm & blues, rock & roll or chanson, the stylistic elements that define their proposal.

On Thursday 10 November in The Steadfast Tin Soldier will be the turn of Eklectic, duo Perico Baths and Andres Lafuente, who will present his album Jazz Suite No. 3 (Curves).

The double musical picture, keyboards and drums, is a meeting, face to face, in which live the expressive freedom of each artist with an instrumental work of high quality.

On Saturday November 12 the Cartagena Jazz Festival becomes university, and the Auditorium of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena hosts Big Band concert Cotijazz.

Some 23 musicians on stage, in a big band created in 2011 under the International Jazz Festival Towers Cotillas (Murcia).

Composed of excellent musicians it is regularly directed by renowned saxophonist and director Ramón Cardo.

It has a system based on great composers and arrangers of jazz history as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones Sammy Nestico and or contemporary authors like Bob Mintzer Gordon Goodwin or repertoire.

It also includes original compositions by members of the band itself.

The third weekend of the festival is packed with concerts in the Off Jazz program.

On Thursday 17 it will be the turn of Elena Gomez Trio in The Steadfast Tin Soldier.

The formation led by Elena Gomez revisits classic jazz standards, imprinting a personal touch that renews the classic jazz.

On Friday 18 at El Santo will be the turn of Marengo Jazz and Dry Martina, malagueño group pop with influences of soul, connecting with funk sounds seventies, with an air of jazz and connecting perfectly with the rock of the 50s, while aside his attraction to the swing.

The band concentrates on his own style that whole range of sounds that some have dared to label as retropop.

It is the only concert this payment program.

The weekend is completed with performances by Curro García Group & Enrique Oliver on Saturday 19 presenting his first album Verdad Amarga in the room Mr Witt and the hall of the New Theatre Circus Baboon Blues County, at the end of the concert Jacky Terrasson and Cecile McLorin.

Baboon Blues County has established itself as one of the most active bands in the Southeast Spanish blues scene.

With a system based on the classics produced by legendary record labels that took to the lists of R & B in the 50s and 60s in the United States repertoire.

Mr Witt host the last concert of Jazz Off.

On Thursday 24 at the cafeteria cartagenera act Zebojazz, contemporary jazz quintet in which they have a large number of compounds by Victor Diaz cartagenero issues.
