COEC claims further promotion of the festival of Carthaginians and Romans as a catalyst for the economy of the Region (15/09/2016)

The Regional Confederation of Organizations of Cartagena has welcomed today the presentation of the analysis by Cajamar on increased consumption at parties Carthaginians and Romans.

The presentation was attended by Pedro Pablo Hernández, president of COEC;

Miguel Martinez, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena;

Jesus Lopez, territorial director of Cajamar;

Antonio Font, director of Research and Methodology Commercial BCC-Group Cajamar;

and David Garcia, head of Commercial Consumption Measurement Project.

The analysis, based on data obtained from payments made by credit card and debit cards, and cash withdrawals at ATMs Cajamar during the holidays of 2014 and 2015, shows the evolution of consumption made during the last holidays, both residents of Cartagena and Murcia as domestic visitors.

COEC president applauded the study and claimed a "major parties promote Cartagena as a catalyst for the economy of the region".

It has also emphasized the need for "greater support from the administration taking into account the results obtained following this analysis are very encouraging."

The following shows in detail the data obtained through the study:

Consumer transactions made with credit and debit card and cash withdrawals at ATMs grew by 7.46% during the Festival of Carthaginians and Romans last year, according to the analysis on transactions at ATMs and POS terminals ( TPVs) Cajamar from 18 to 27 September 2015.

This increase in consumption is mainly materialized through card payment through POS terminals in stores, which recorded an increase of 25.32% over 2014, while cash withdrawals through ATM increased by only 0.60 %.

This shows that users are increasingly opting to pay by plastic money through POS.

In total, during the holidays last year, 32,535 transactions with credit and debit card for payment in shops and ATM withdrawals were made.

The days before the local holiday (September 25, 2015) it was in the most consumption was performed, reaching 25.37% of total expenditure, while on holidays, Sundays and Friday, September 25, is recorded a below average consumption of all parties, due to the closure of many businesses.
