City Council and social partners join forces to improve citizen living in the Old Town and Sector Station (14/09/2016)

Cartagena has lived today Wednesday, September 14, an intense day of training and participatory spaces to share their first Intercultural Community Programming ICI project, which will answer some of losretos raised in the Community Diagnosis, presented last April.

The result has been LabourOrganisation fruit promoted by the City of Cartagena and Cepaim Foundation.

In the morning, local government officials, along with representatives of the Cepaim Foundation and Obra Social la Caixa;

have presented the Community program, as part of the commitment to enhance the life of society and social cohesion in the historic center and the station, neighborhoods with great cultural richness and diversity Sector.

In addition, to strengthen Community actions related to prevention and health promotion, promote educational and cultural activities with the educational community for children and youth, and promote spaces for the promotion of citizen participation are the main axes this programming.

Ana Belén Castejon, Deputy Mayor of Cartagena;

Carlos Giménez Romero, Scientific Director of Project Intercultural Community;

Juan Antonio Segura, director of the Foundation Cepaim;

Maria del Carmen Martin;

Councillor for Social Services and Social Mediation City of Cartagena;

and Damián Pérez, coordinator of Social and Institutional relating to the ICI Cartagena Project.

Jose Lopez, noted that this Community Programming, has been possible thanks to the valuable involvement of other public institutions such as the Area2 health, the Museum of Regional Modern Art, social organizations and neighboring and neighbors involved throughout the community process .

Community actions pose together work to reinforce identity with the neighborhood and strengthen bonds that will improve the life of society in the neighborhoods of Old Town and Sector Station.

During the two years of development Project Intercultural Community it has been crucial involvement and active participation of Area2 Health Murciano Health Service, Agency for Local Development and Employment (ALDE) Neighborhood Association Sector Station Health Center Old town Social Centre San Diego, Intercultural Center, Department of Social Services and Social Mediation, Department of Education, Department of Youth, Sports Department, Department of Citizen Participation and Decentralization, Consortium Cartagena Casco, Regional Assembly of Cartagena Red Cross Collective the Huertecica, Collective with karacter Fonkie, College Board Sacred Heart of Jesus, Isidoriana, IES Jiménez de la Espada and IES Isaac Peral, Regional Museum of Modern Art of the Region of Murcia, Parish Sacred Heart of Jesus, Diabetic Society of Cartagena Foundation Unit Housing and social promotion, Unit Immigration and Development Cooperation, Technical University of Cartagena, in addition to the Community Intervention Team intercultural provided by the Project itself, not to mention an important sector of residents of both neighborhoods.

DRAFT Intercultural Community (ICI)

Project Intercultural Community Intervention, driven by the Social la Caixa construction in 39 districts of Españaen collaboration with different administrations and social organizations, is an initiative of social action with a preventive approach and promotes intercultural relations, promotes social cohesion and aims the empowerment of society for coexistence and community development.

In Cartagena, the project is carried out since July 2014.
