Local Police Cartagena next week will monitor the use of seat belts (08/09/2016)

Local Police Cartagena held from 12 to 18 September, a campaign of surveillance and control of safety belts and child restraint systems, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Traffic.

With this preventive campaign coincides with the start of the school year to all drivers and passengers will raise awareness that the seat belt is a basic and fundamental road safety element as it reduces by half the risk of death in case of accident .

At 80 mph, a frontal crash without wearing a seat belt, often leads result in death or serious injury.

The belt reaches maximum effectiveness in rollovers, where a 77% reduced risk of death.

Not wearing a seat belt is, along with the speed and driving under the influence of alcohol, one of the main risk factors on the road.

Failure to use is a major risk to road safety and in a frontal impact, wear the seat belt decreases by more than 60% the injury.

The use of child restraint systems (CRS) approved and seat belt has been demonstrated as the most simple, cost-effective and efficient in all kinds of roads and paths road safety system.
