Family spends more than three million euros to the care of people with disabilities Astus and ananda in Cartagena (02/09/2016)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, visited today in Cartagena centers Child development and early care of the Guardianship Association of People with Disabilities (Astus), and the Association of Parents of Children with Hearing Disabilities (ananda) and recalled that the regional government allocated this year more than three million euros to support five services for the care of 435 persons with disabilities of these two associations, four of Astus (early care, day center Prolam, residential care and housing tutelada) and one of ananda focused stimulation in children's oral language and communication.

Astus works for integration, family and social and improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy.

Support for the deaf

On the other hand, Violante Thomas recently signed an agreement with the Federation of Associations of Families of deaf people in the region (Fasen), which ananda is integrated, for maintaining care activities deaf people, amounting to 563,597 euros.

Through this agreement, the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) awarded a grant to develop a program to improve care under 16 hearing impaired federation.

The program develops, is aimed at children aged 6 to 16 with performances accessibility, removing communication barriers and specialized programs for deaf education.

Now in its child development center it is serving 45 children.

Ananda is committed through their associations to report the technological and medical means and methodologies that help improve the quality of life of people with hearing loss.

The Minister explained that the regional government support given to children with diagnosed problems is essential for further development.

Thus, the Community earmarked 4.5 million euros to early intervention, enabling provide stimulation to 3,700 children with development disorders or risk of suffering, and their families.

Early attention maximizes the capabilities of the child currently being developed a draft decree regulating the coordination between the competent ministries in social services, education and health for the provision of early intervention.
