Cartagena, national maritime capital through a conference bringing together the military merchant marine, fishing, sports and (10/05/2016)

Early in the morning it inaugurated the Third National Maritime Conference, which this year is housed in the hall Isaac Peral of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, a scenario that invites you to enter the marine world through views the port city.

The mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, presided over the opening session of the event along with the Minister of Development in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Barnabas;

the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Alejandro Diaz;

President of the Spanish Maritime Cluster, Alejandro Aznar;

and President of the Royal Spanish Naval League, Juan Diaz Cano.

Jose Lopez stressed the role of the port for Cartagena and the importance of the arrival of visitors thanks to this event, which is characterized by its transversality, as the sea is the garden of fishermen and those who keep this field is Navy war.

At the same time, it stressed the value of the marine industry, which has grown exponentially with marinas, absolutely necessary to continue job creation.

Being a city with three thousand years linked to a seaport, we need to be regarding the Mediterranean Basin.

The rector of the UPCT has emphasized that this conference will not only be established as a set of meetings but as an act that has social impact to warn the economic and social partners of the importance of this area.

Barnabas also expressed his satisfaction pro Cartagena have chosen as maritime capital today and tomorrow, Wednesday, May 11, and stressed that since the Community defend and bet on all the initiatives that are conducted through this congress.

At conferences and presentations they will be represented the four marinas: merchant shipping, fishing, sports and military.

This congress, which last year was held in the city of Santander, is organized by the Royal Spanish Naval League and Spanish Maritime Cluster and has the support and collaboration of the City of Cartagena.
