"In Search of the Lost Memory" (24/04/2016)

Cronista of the Brotherhood of San Ginés de la Jara |

It is well known the amazing historical treasure wealth pasionarias four brotherhoods of our city.

We talked about those same pages whose chronology seems inevitably lost in time leaving glimpse farther than we thought hitherto horizons.

This reality not doubt it, far from giving rise healthy rivalries cofrades looking the oldest essence, we must translate it into the pride of being owners of a week of unparalleled passion, exceptional legacy over the centuries and of course, of our ancestors.

And to add, no doubt it is synonymous with International Tourist Interest ...

However, beyond this universe they exist in our city other brotherhoods of Gloria whose history -tengamos for sure- not leave us indifferent.

In many cases his gaze interior invites to travel back in time -accompanied with that old flavor and mystery to those legendary and deep roots of that devout and religious Cartagena centuries has.

This is the case of the historical and spiritual heritage that gives us the Brotherhood of San Ginés de la Jara (XVI century or earlier), which without forgetting "once" medieval conception tells us, with its gaps in time-as the oldest active throughout the city.

There is reason for these lines deepen moment in its history, from ancient chapters San Gines doors that gave entrance to Cartagena reciprocally lead you to the mystery of its namesake beyond the shores of the Mar Menor monastery.

San Ginés has a lot to talk and I will be times in order to discover the history of this figure canonized in 1541 and named Patron Saint of Cartagena in 1677 ...

That is why as from here we want to emphasize the new winds that occur today to the Brotherhood of San Ginés de la Jara City of Cartagena.

Young, dynamic, as like denominarse- but above all, do not forget your desire--and is put in the spotlight the glorious past of the centuries that surrounds it.

Victor Javier Navarro Iñíguez as their second Big Brother in this last period has achieved the milestone of recovering our recent past.

Specifically we talk about the so-called "Literary Fair" whose first edition of this event took place in 1969 and which have contributed the Polytechnic University, the City of Cartagena and other organizations.

In his prose and verse form of the collected works have dealt Cartagena and its inhabitants, as well as on the figure of San Ginés de la Jara, one of the main objectives to recover within its historical memory.

Specifically its first prize in the poetry category was the work entitled "monkish Exaltation" Anna King Monsalve and prose "Reflections of a mill" Pilar Galindo Salmeron, both authors of Cartagena.

Also within the Cultural Week (18 to 24 April) the Brotherhood did not want to fall behind in its institutional aspect highlighting the twinning with the Brotherhood of Christ of the Fishermen of Cabo de Palos and the Association of the Christ of Mercy of the Brotherhood California.

Meanwhile we must review the appointment of Brother of Honor D. Manuel Martinez Guillen (Brother of the Illustrious Brotherhood of the Holy Christ and Real Relief) and as Cofrade of Honor to the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The collection of books in its solidarity campaign has also been other successes, with over two hundred donations to smaller, all revolving around the parish of San Gines, which is parish priest Father Lazaro Gomariz Lopez .

Just go from here our most sincere congratulations to all the brothers of this Brotherhood, a congratulation that is linked in turn to all those who made it clear before them the reality of this great dream.

Dream that by looking upon an abandoned monastery on the banks of the Mar Menor speaks of centuries of a wonderful story yet to be discovered and why not live in person ...
