Cartagena breaks record of visitors during Holy Week (29/03/2016)

Cartagena registered this Easter the best data on number of visitors in its history.

From Good Friday until Easter Sunday, 21,559 people visited some of the cultural offerings ofreceCartagena Puerto de Culturas at this time of year.

Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, praised the tourist influx in data centers Interpretation, Reservoir and tourist transport, which has received 4,135 new visitors compared to Easter 2015, representing an increase of 23.73 percent.

To Castejon, these are 4,135 new reasons to continue working to improve tourism in our city.

Castejon has highlighted the figures recorded on Good Friday on the occasion of the open day, donde4.544 tourists visited exhibitions, museums and other attractions in the port city.

These data exceed 2,088 the number of people over last year, representing an increase of 85 percent.

Castejon noted that the city is becoming a tourist and cultural reference in the region.

The exhibition of Tutankhamen exposed in the Augusteum has been visited by more than 2,000 people during Easter, ranking at the site or museum that has increased its visits on this holiday.

Followed Refuge, Roman Theater and Barrio Roman Forum.

For the year 2015 there has been a sharp increase in domestic tourism from 58 percent of total visitors, 72 percent in the 2016 Madrid and Valencia are the communities that tourists bring to our city, followed Castilla La Mancha, Andalusia and Catalonia.
