HIMOINSA an industrial engine gives the UPCT to train students (25/02/2016)

The multinational manufacturer of generators and power generation systems HIMOINSA, located in San Javier, an engine has given today the Department of Thermal and Fluids Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).

The engine will be used in trials of different subjects and masters degrees in Industrial Engineering and Naval.

The engine is designed to test the Heat Engines Laboratory, located in the building Teaching and Research Laboratories (ELDI) UPCT.

This is a diesel engine Yanmar 4TNV98T ZGGEH electronic management and application in groups of 45 kVA generator.

HIMOINSA also supplies accessories and own manufacturing unit required for the operation of the motor.

The main use of the equipment is teaching in subjects related to the area of ​​combustion engines, and research on emission control and use of alternative fuels, explained Fernando Illán and Jose Hernandez Grau, Department of Thermal Engineering and Fluid.

June Takashima, chief executive of HIMOINSA believes that "Through this agreement assigning the company contributes to the teaching and research of future engineers."

For his part, Manuel Sánchez Bada, Director of Engineering, says that "companies like HIMOINSA, linked to the field of engineering, must focus on such initiatives and contribute to the development of new professionals."

The rector of the UPCT, José Antonio Franco, has moved to the multinational responsible for the appreciation of the university community.

"HIMOINSA becomes sponsor of the lab," he noted.

Franco also believes that having this infrastructure "will allow us to collaborate in training and research of interest to the company and the UPCT".

Engineers UPCT

The company has launched this year incorporating students in their final years of the School of Industrial Engineering of the UPCT through a program of training and employment.

This plan calls for hiring four students each year over the next five years.

HIMOINSA gradually train the 20 selected students.

During the first two years of the contract UPCT students continue their internal training through the different departments HIMOINSA headquarters in San Javier, and from the third year may be carried over to the factories that the company has in France, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, India and China or subsidiaries of Portugal, UK, Germany, Poland, Dominican Republic, Panama, Argentina, Angola, UAE and Singapore.

The use of the new test facility will contribute to the practical training of students of Bachelor and Master degrees offered in the Schools of Industrial Engineering, Naval and Civil.
