The mayor receives the Murcian painter José María Falgas (19/02/2016)

Jose Lopez, mayor of Cartagena, held a meeting with the natural painter Murcia José María Falgas, who used to walk and explore the rooms of the Town Hall, appreciating the paintings hosting its walls and architectural richness a building that piqued his interest and curiosity.

Falgas has maintained a close relationship with Cartagena since 1947 to grant him the prize for painting at an exhibition.

Since then, the relationship between the painter and Cartagena has been steady, knowing much of the intellectual elite that has passed through the city in recent decades, as Antonio Oliver and Carmen Conde, whom he portrayed.

In Cartagena, a city in the painter's opinion, should be the cultural capital of the Mediterranean, you can see some of his works at the headquarters of the Regiment of Artillery in Tentegorra or Artillery.

In addition, he is the author of a series of watercolors depicting the deluxe edition of the historical novel of Ramon J. Sender Mr. Witt in Canton (National Fiction Prize).

This is an artist who throughout his career has been highlighted by the intention to invite his paintings to meditation, reflection, showing his view of the world and human existence, which is also reflected in his writings.

He has received a remarkable number of awards and recognitions as the Bronze Medal of the Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters of Paris, the Medal of Honor of the Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies, or the Centenary Medal of the Royal Academy of Medicine, and other.
