New reforestation day in Monte Roldan on Saturday 20 (16/02/2016)

The Department of Tourism, Rural Development and Fisheries Coastal City of Cartagena has shown its commitment to revegetation and conservation trails Monte Roldan, working in two shifts of environmental conservation.

After the good work carried out by a total of 35 volunteers in the first edition, Saturday 20 February there is a new opportunity to provide our support and commitment to the environmental value of the area and its needs.

So, to finish the revegetation and continue with the actions of information and awareness, a new day is offered throughout Saturday morning, from 10.00 to 14.00.

Pre-booking is essential sending an email to carmen.molina@columbares.org , with a minimum of two days indicating: name, ID number and date of birth.

The mayor of Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, and noted the importance of such actions to conserve one of the places of greatest environmental value and is the most visited Cartagena and visitors from other municipalities during the weekends for practice hiking.

These activities are financed by the Road Association of the Strengths, with part of the proceeds of the numbers in the edition of the popular race last 2015.

MONTE Rolda N

Located on the coast of Murcia, west of Cartagena, Mount Roland is a steep mountain range of high ecological, geomorphological and cultural interest, including within the natural area of the Sierra de la Muela, Cabo Tiñoso and Roldan.

Due to its proximity to the city of Cartagena and its attractive scenery, it is popular to practice all sorts of recreational activities that generate impacts on the environment such as soil erosion, loss of vegetation, abandoning waste or discomfort wildlife.

To improve the stay and enjoyment of visitors should be informed about the network of footpaths and public use present in the countryside, so that the pressure of public use in areas that generate less impact on visitors to be focused environmental values.

It is also necessary to restore degraded areas from the high pressure of public use of the area.

To continue to enjoy the privileges offered by the Monte Roldan, the Sports Association of the Route of the strengths provided a portion of the contributions of the participants of the event 2015 to run a restoration project proposed by the Association Columbares.

Such actions have actively helped the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Environment;

Natursport and the Department of Tourism, Rural Development and Fisheries Litoral, the City of Cartagena.
