El Museo-Teatro Romano de Cartagena organizing a free seminar on women in ancient Rome (14/02/2016)

The Museo-Teatro Romano Cartagena Foundation, made up of the Community, the City and the Cajamurcia Foundation has organized a free course on the role of women in ancient Rome will be analyzed.

This activity will coincide with the opening of the exhibition 'Women of Rome through the art of comics' held on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Under the 'Admired, maligned, forgotten: Women of ancient Rome' title, will reflect on the seminar on current achievements and future challenges approach to equality between men and women and the process to achieve it since ancient times.

The approach of this initiative is to tackle the experience of the women of ancient Rome and the historical evolution in Mediterranean countries by sources such as archeology, art, poetic texts or the law.

The general director of Cultural and patron of the Foundation, María Comas, said "these activities of study, analysis and reflection are part of the work being done from the Museo-Teatro Romano de Cartagena and contribute to know and to value history and heritage of the region. "

The seminar will be held in the Auditorium of the Museum and will feature two sessions, one on Friday, March 4 and the second on day 8. The course is organized and coordinated by the director of the Museo-Teatro Romano de Cartagena, Elena Ruiz Valderas , professor of law at the University of Almeria Rosalia Rodríguez and professor of Art History at the University of Murcia Sánchez Jaime Vizcaino.
