The local Government Board approves projects for more than 850,000 euros to continue activating the local economy (07/08/2020)

| The Cartagena City Council provides Social Services with almost 100,000 euros more in aid for those affected by Covid-19 | The local Government Board of Cartagena has given the green light this Friday, August 7, to two new large works, within the line of work adopted to reactivate the economy and tourism in the municipality, as I explained yesterday in the Debate on the State of Municipality.Specifically, the basic execution project for the rehabilitation of the birthplace of Isaac Peral has been approved, which already has all the permits; and the tenth work of the 13 planned with the surplus of the water concessionaire, which will solve the problem of floods in the county of El Albujón, amounting to almost 265,000 euros and more than 582,000 euros, respectively.“As I showed in the Debate on the State of the Municipality, the Government team, following its programmatic agreement, but being very aware of the situation derived from Covid-19, we have approved these works today at the Governing Board for an amount of almost 850,000 euros, so that the City Council continues to serve as an economic catalyst in these moments where productive activity has been slowed down as a result of the crisis ”, stressed the Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón.On the other hand, he assured, "we must continue to meet the basic needs of the people who are experiencing the worst as a result of COVID 19".For this, the local Government Board has made a budget modification of more than 96,000 euros, within the Department of Social Services, to continue attending needs such as accommodation expenses in emergency situations or various expenses related to the health emergency that we are suffering, among others.In addition, the agreement with the UPCT has been expanded to incorporate 4 new lines of research into ecological footprint reduction, a sustainable urban mobility plan, the development of communication networks and renewable energy and energy efficiency, all four associated with the Mitigation and Adaptation Plan.
