Young people from Cartagena carry out a European solidarity project during confinement (14/05/2020)

| 'Mi Barrio Mola' is the title they have chosen for this proposal, which has the support of the Mobility Space | A group of five young people from Cartagena, from the Erasmus + Youth in Action program, have taken advantage of the confinement to prepare a European solidarity project under the title, 'Mi Barrio Mola'.The settings chosen for this solidarity project are the Apothecary of the Book of José María de la Puerta and Lo Campano.“Our main objective is to offer young people in these neighborhoods alternative leisure activities that are healthy and have an educational component, which complements the activities that are already being carried out in the drugstores in these two neighborhoods, the settings chosen to carry out this project.

, and which will consist of activities related to sports, the environment or the theater, "said Pablo Pedreño, one of the young promoters, who also added that" they are waiting to know if the European Solidarity Corps Program will going to finance the project.

”The Mobility Space of the Department of Youth has provided advice, as well as accompanied them during the preparation of the project.The councilor for Youth, David Martínez, explained that “we are very proud of these young people who, without a doubt, are capable of making the best of experiences such as that of this confinement.

Solidarity is also being shown by these young people, whom I thank for their involvement with society and I congratulate them on this project.

We recall that from the Department of Youth we endorse this type of European youth initiatives ”.These young people are former European volunteers who have developed their different projects in countries such as Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Sweden, Turkey and Ireland.On the other hand, for Isabel Gallego, head of the Apothecary of the Book of Jose Mª de la Puerta, highlights the importance of this European initiative “because it is a way for young people in the neighborhood to collaborate and get involved in the socio-cultural revitalization of the same time that coexistence between immigrants and residents of both neighborhoods is fostered, without forgetting reading as social medicine ”.The European Solidarity Corps offers the opportunity for youth groups to devise and present solidarity projects of national scope aimed at addressing the problems of a group in their country.More information in Mobility Space:voluntariadoeuropeo@ayto-cartagena.es
