Education helps underprivileged minors to receive their homework at home (27/04/2020)

| The initiative launched by the Department manages 700 applications whose distribution will end, predictably, throughout this week | The 700 vulnerable students who have been included in the homework distribution system will have their work dossiers before the end of this week.

After the decree of confinement due to the pandemic of COVID19, the Department of Education of the City Council of Cartagena launched this initiative that is funded by the Ministry of Education and allows schoolchildren who do not have financial resources or any other ease to receive their homework they can continue their learning, whose distribution is already ending. The idea of ??this initiative is that the boys and girls of the municipality who are in a situation of social vulnerability receive the activities that they must carry out monthly.

The children of those families at risk of social exclusion and who study from the 2nd cycle of Early Childhood Education to Compulsory Secondary Education, as well as Special Education, can benefit from it.In this way, 700 applications have been received from students, whose distribution is ending with the sending of homework assignments, corresponding to the educational centers of Infant, Primary, Compulsory Secondary and Special Education throughout the municipality, so that no minor of Cartagena is left without being able to do their homework during this exceptional situation.“We are aware that there are many families who do not have the financial resources or other means to access school assignments.

For this reason, with this initiative we want that in this period of confinement, all the boys and girls can continue their learning as normally as possible ”, explained the Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, who assured that the service is having very good reception. In this way, the Department works in direct contact with the educational centers, which are in charge of sending the municipal employees the list of schoolchildren who were not receiving their tasks due to their situation of social vulnerability. Thus, the mayor wanted to show his appreciation to all teachers and management teams in the municipality for their "great work and involvement in these difficult times." In this sense, he explained that the teachers themselves prepare personalized work dossiers for each student who requires this service."They are doing a commendable job so that no boy or girl in Cartagena is left unattended: they not only continue to carry out their classes with their students, but they prepare adapted work for those little ones who do not have the telephone or telematic means to attend classes virtual or receive their homework, "said Irene Ruiz.
