Warning level 3 is maintained for contamination of PM10 suspended particles for Saturday morning (24/01/2020)

The City Council of Cartagena maintains its recommendations for the general population on Saturday regarding restricting the use of the private vehicle and, if appropriate, sharing it and conducting efficient driving, given the persistence of level 3 contamination of PM10 suspended particles in the term municipal.

Although the measuring stations of the regional network detected an improvement in the levels with respect to previous days, these were maintained throughout the day today above 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air and with it the alert level.

Given this situation, the Cartagena City Council has decided to reiterate the recommendations aimed at mitigating the possible harmful effects of the polluting episode on the population.

Among these indications is, in addition to those concerning the use of the vehicle, avoiding extreme physical exertion in the open air, not burning stubble or plowing fields, not using blowers in street cleaning and ultimately avoiding any activity that promotes increase of suspended particles in the atmosphere.

Yes, the circulation cut of the Historic District has been withdrawn at the moment, as well as the free buses that were offered during the day, given that during the weekend the displacements are reduced and such a measure is not essential so that decrease the use of private vehicle

Free buses have contributed today to an increase in the use of encrypted public transport by 10 percent by the concessionaire of the lines compared to a normal Friday.

It is estimated that about 22 thousand people have used this service today.
