Canarian, Christmas and popular music to help those most in need, in the traditional concert of the Rotary Club (10/12/2019)

On Sunday, December 15, the Paraninfo of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena will host the extraordinary Christmas concert of the Rotary Club of Cartagena.

Starring the Cartagonova Musical Union, the benefits of the event will go to help social entities in the city and the Rotary Club project in Burkina Faso.

The Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena supports this concert that will begin at noon and whose entry is worth ten euros.

The mayor delegate of Social Services of Cartagena, Mercedes Garcia, has presented the concert accompanied by the president of the Rotary Club of Cartagena, Juan Martínez, and the director of the Musical Union Cartagonova, Jaime Belda.

With the proceeds, the Rotary Club of Cartagena, intends to move forward with the cereal bank in Burkina Faso for the most needy population.

Part will also go to social entities of Cartagena and to the Cartagonova Musical Union.

The Councilor for Social Services of Cartagena, Mercedes García, said that “at this time that is approaching is very given for all these types of events that seek collaboration and solidarity.

But it is also true that when these objectives are not only of these dates, but that they constitute an objective throughout the year, it is when we can really consider it more important â€in reference to the activities carried out by the Rotary Club of Cartagena.

Garcia has made reference to the struggle for development and access to healthy food in the most needy areas of the world that among other topics occupies the Rotary Club of Cartagena.

The president of this charity in Cartagena, Juan Martínez, says that “the priority goal of Rotary International has been the elimination of polio.

So far we have vaccinated almost 16 million children around the world for almost 40 years. â€

The Rotary Club of Cartagena also focuses on the health of mothers and children, on the supply of drinking water in the most disadvantaged areas, the development of good food, the dissemination of peace in the world and the exchange of students with from other countries.

For this year, Rotary Club is distributing milk among the neediest children and works with ASIDO Cartagena and the Musical Union Cartagonova.

As an international project, this group has set out to open a bank of cereal microcredits in the area where there is more famine in Burkina Faso.

They are working with an NGO from this country to develop this project.

The extraordinary Christmas concert of the Musical Union Cartagonova will consist of two parts.

The Pasodoble 'Canary Islands' event will open the event.

Then, the professor of the Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife Pedro Izquierdo, will offer a performance with the timple, an instrument of Canarian origin derived from the baroque guitar.

After this part dedicated to the Canary archipelago, the concert will focus on a more Christmas theme.

The Christmas carols 'Night of Peace' and 'But look how they drink' will be performed, as well as the popular song 'Chiquitita'.

There will also be time to listen to soundtracks from movies like Ghost or Star Wars.

In addition, the Musical Union Cartagonova will perform songs from the video game Super Mario Bros.

Tickets for the concert will be on sale for 10 euros on Sunday December 15 at the Paraninfo of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
