Culture about the figure and works of Miguel Hernández and his relationship with Cartagena to the institutes (29/11/2019)

The Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena has among its fundamental objectives to promote knowledge of the figures of our cultural heritage.

The dissemination of the works and authors that are part of the literary and cultural heritage is necessary to preserve the collective memory.

One of the important spaces for their knowledge is the educational field, for this reason, this morning, Friday, November 29, the presentation of the first work of the collection 'Letras y Memoria', the Reading Guide on Miguel Hernández, took place and its relationship with Cartagena.

This guide, which has activities and numerous work materials, is aimed at teachers and students of 4th ESO and 1st and 2nd Baccalaureate of the municipality of Cartagena.

The presentation of this, held in the Auditorium of the Conservatory, next to the IES Ben Arabí, has been assisted by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the director of Culture, Chenchi Plazas, the director of the institute, Manuel Díaz, the Director of the Miguel Hernández Foundation in Orihuela, Aitor Larrabide and the official chronicler of Cartagena, Francisco José Franco.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, said that thanks to this work "we continue to educate through poetry and verse and bring the figure and works of Miguel Hernández to young people."

Miguel Hernández's relationship with Cartagena was very close, being the poets Antonio Oliver and Carmen Conde the link with the city.

The Popular University created by Antonio and Carmen was able to enjoy his presence on several occasions and to know the two literary facets of Miguel Hernández: poet and playwright.

The poet had Cartagena and its people as one of their favorite places, where they could enjoy with writers and friends, exchanging ideas and poems, examples of this are María Cegarra and Miguel Valdivieso Belmás.
