The promotional concerts of Entre Cuerdas y Metales traveled to Jumilla on their second day (21/11/2019)

The Vico de Jumilla Theater dressed up this Wednesday, November 20 to receive the young musicians of the program of the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Entre Cuerdas y Metales.

The Promotional Concerts are an initiative that gives the winners of the last edition of the Contest to participate as soloists with the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra (with Chamber Orchestra format) conducted by Leonardo Martínez Cayuelas.

The concert began with the Orchestra performing the first movement of one of the quartets composed by Beethoven arranged by Leonardo Martínez for String Orchestra;

String Quartet No. 11 in Fa m, Op.95 “Seriousâ€.

Then, the first of the five soloists of the night began, former student of the Jumilla Conservatory and, currently, studying at the Higher Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia, Alberto López Bernal (horn), with Concert N .º 4 in Mib KV.

495 for the horn and orchestra of WA Mozart, Marcos García Barrera continued, with Concert No. 3 on Sol KV 216 for violin and orchestra of WA Mozart.

It was followed by Marta García by Andrés Martínez who performed the Symphonic Rhapsody for piano and orchestra Op. 66 by J. Turina, Daniel Madrid Jordán continued accompanied by Mamen Fernández (cantaora) and Alejandro Solano (drawer) with the piece Callejón del aire.

The protagonists left the bar high with their performances, accompanied by the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, which resulted in applause from the public as a prize for the work behind these concerts.

The cycle of promotional concerts between Entre Cuerdas y Metales ends this Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

Admission is free until capacity is reached.

A theater with a hearth

The Vico de Jumilla Theater, in an eclectic style, was built at the end of the 19th century in part of the site of the former convent of Las Llagas de San Francisco and opened on August 14, 1883. It was designed by Justo Millán Espinosa and in 1890 it was He baptizes him with the name of actor Antonio Vico.

It consists of three floors and has a horseshoe shape, the decoration of the ceilings and the curtain are by Manuel Sanmiguel.

From the facade we highlight the medallions with plaster busts of glories of Spanish literature.

Over the years it has undergone several reforms, being and reopened on April 25, 1991 by Queen Sofia.
